Poll – Driving Under The Influence

I just spent a nice couple of days off visiting a friend in Las Vegas. St. Patrick’s Day in Las Vegas is a unique confluence of an excuse for drinking with the insanity that is March Madness in a betting town. The level of drinking is ramped to an unthinkable level. On the way home, I saw no less than three cars pulled over so that someone could empty their guts, more than likely a result of the previous night’s activities.

When I got home, I started catching up on my various social media accounts. Takes awhile after being relatively off-the-grid for three days. That’s when I cam across a post by our own Terry Myers, who relates the story that someone he has known for a very long time is angry with him. Why? Apparently, she was arrested – at 10:30 am this morning – on a DUI. Terry told a mutual acquaintance ’Good. Maybe she’ll learn a lesson now… and not possibly kill someone.’

This apparently has her all hacked off. She was arrested for a DUI at 10:30am on a Sunday morning, and she’s mad at him.

So, I thought I’d toss up this little poll to find out how many of our readers and viewers have had a DUI affect their lives. Have you ever had a DUI, whether your own or through that of someone else, affect your life? Let us know. We’ll reveal the results on Tuesday night’s show.

Note: Occasionally, the poll is slow to load. If so, please reload the page…

Um yeah…. far too many times! Had a friends child die from an underage Drinking Driver. and when Jenn was a baby we were in a crash that killed 3 people – because a semi-driver had been drinking. The 2 people were literally decapitated. There is no excuse, and it’s not an ‘accident’ – when you drink and drive you are choosing to do so.

I have a hunch I’m going to hear lots of these stories. Be sure to take the poll, and leave comments as well! And spread the word… This is going to be a strong topic on this week’s show…

I have so much information from when I worked for the state FNL office. We worked in prevention and honestly, the statistics are staggering!

Any stats you can send me would be awesome. Not sure if you saw Terry’s original post, but it’s absolutely amazing to me how hard-headed some people can be.

leo this is your cousin ray and yes good topic. really like how you lose your lisence but have to get to traffic school. I would also mention that the police, used to set outside of dui classes and bust people attending class for driving with no lisence.

I don’t really get the traffic school part. Do they really think that the folks who go to traffic school for a DUI are going to change their behavior because of a class? I would really be interested to see how statistics on whether it actually has an effect. My guess is that it becomes a money-making opportunity much more than it really changes the behavior.

Of the ones you’ve arrested, do you know (maybe a percentage) how many were repeat offenders?
