Hey, GOP – How’s That Tea Party Thing Workin’ Out?

We said early on that the Tea Party was being played by the GOP in an attempt to stoke anger against the current administration so that they could collect votes for the mid-term elections. we warned the Tea Party folks that they were not getting what they thought they were getting.

And it wasn’t long before those warnings became reality.

Now, it’s payback time for the Tea Party. Via CNN

Washington (CNN) – The number three House Republican defended Speaker John Boehner Thursday after a Tea Party group accused Boehner of not doing enough to cut spending and said he should be replaced.

California Republican Kevin McCarthy told CNN, “I think one – you should see what Speaker Boehner has done.”
Tea Party Nation Founder Judson Phillips said Wednesday that Boehner “looks like a fool” in budget negotiations and needs to push for deeper spending cuts. Phillips told CNN if Boehner didn’t get “serious on spending cuts” he would push to defeat Boehner in the next election by recruiting a primary challenger.

You won’t find sympathy for either side here. The GOP played the Tea Party card to the hilt, allowing them to go rampant in their attacks on the current administration. The GOP knew they couldn’t meet the tax slashing expectations of the Tea Party folks, but they strung them along. Now the Tea Party is pissed.

Meanwhile, the Tea Party should have seen this coming. From a long way away. The GOP has done more than their fair share of creating excessive spending, and are in ni way ready to truly slash deficits with tough decisions. They’re willing to cut smaller, less prominent budgets, but when it comes to the biggest, like the military or Social Security, they just don’t have the guts – and never have. So it shouldn’t be a surprise to Tea Party folks that the GOP hasn’t delivered.

Oh, and while we’re piling on Boehner – where are the jobs?
